Sandy, Utah

We ended up in Sandy, Utah, despite my initial reservations regarding price. The compromise was to move into an apartment rather than renting a home. We still have over 1200 sq. ft. of living space and found a lovely complex that accepts large pets. We absolutely love it here and I am so glad that we chose to move to the SLC area.

One of the first things that I when we move into a new city is to find a local morning talk show. These shows help acclimate us to the new area - weather, traffic, gardening, local events and politics. You also see local rather than national commercials for businesses in your area. I really enjoy "Good Things Utah" which is broadcast on KTVX. All of the hosts on the show are newspeople who do double duty on the local news in the morning. On each show, they have a cooking segment, which introduces you to chefs/restaurants. On Thursdays or Fridays, there is usually a segment on any expos or festivals that will be held over the weekend. When comparing this local talk show with all of the other shows that I have come across in our many moves, this is definitely the best one. If you live in the SLC area, it is broadcast on Comcast/Xfinity cable channel 4.
